Business & Government IT Support in Southern Illinois

Mayer Networks provides business computer support, server and network support, cybersecurity, government IT, business communications and private cloud hosting to organizations across Southern Illinois, operating from its headquarters and datacenter in Carbondale, Illinois since 2006. We support businesses and public organizations only, not residential or walk-in computer repair.

Southern Illinois organizations are supported here by engineers who live here. That matters when a switch fails, a courthouse network needs a cutover, or a new building has to be brought online, work that cannot be done from a queue in another time zone.

Government technology has a particular shape in this region: counties with a dozen separately governed offices sharing one network, small municipalities with no internal IT staff, courthouses that must remain available to the public, and election authorities working to state deadlines. Budgets are annual and often grant-supplemented, so work is sequenced across fiscal years with the largest risks first.

Cybersecurity here is a capacity problem more than an awareness problem. Regional organizations face the same credential theft, phishing and exposed remote access that large enterprises face, with no security staff and no realistic path to hiring one. The highest-value controls come first: multi-factor authentication everywhere, endpoint detection someone actually monitors, email protections, and backups an attacker with production credentials cannot destroy.

Private cloud hosting closes the loop. Rather than replacing an aging server with another capital purchase, organizations move workloads into infrastructure Mayer Networks owns and operates in Carbondale, close enough for strong performance and in a separate building from the office, with redundant datacenter capability behind it.

What we support for businesses and public organizations

Most organizations come to us for the everyday things: staff who need help with a computer, an application or a mailbox, and someone responsible for keeping it all patched, monitored and backed up. That ongoing arrangement is managed IT support — a monthly agreement instead of a call-out each time something breaks.

The rest of the work sits underneath it: server support and troubleshooting, business network support covering switching, firewalls and wireless, and cybersecurity layered across users, email, identity and endpoints. Public bodies add their own requirements, which are described under government IT services.

Counties and communities we cover

Mayer Networks operates from one location, its Carbondale headquarters. Day-to-day support is delivered remotely, and onsite work is arranged according to the location and scope of the job. Work is concentrated in Jackson, Williamson, Franklin, Perry and Saline counties, with Carbondale and Marion accounting for a large share of it, and extends across the counties below and into nearby parts of Missouri, Kentucky and Indiana where onsite work is practical.

Across the region, county and municipal departments run applications from many different vendors, and infrastructure questions rarely resolve themselves between companies. Mayer Networks handles servers, SQL, networking and secure vendor access around those applications as part of government software vendor support.

Public agencies across the region also need their public-facing communication to hold up: an accessible county or municipal website, official social accounts the organization actually controls, and someone available when an emergency notice or election-night update has to go out at 9:00 PM.
